My question is about my CPU. I've recently built a PC whose processor is an Intel Core i7-4790k, and I use a program known as "OpenHardwareMonitor" to check the temperature of it.

    Here are the readings:
    CPU Core #1: 51.0C
    CPU Core #2: 50.0C
    CPU Core #3: 47.0C
    CPU Core #4: 52.0C
    CPU Package: 54.0C

Is it overheating, or is this the standard temperature(s). I am using a stock cooler. Thanks in advance!

    Did you overclock ?

Not sure what your standard temps are but mine are around 37-40

It's not too hot, I'd say it's running on about average temperature.

Nope, overclocking will go beyond the warranty. Are you using the stock cooler to achieve that temperature?

Thats a relief, thanks. I'm planning on getting the Corsair H100i, would that is good pick?

Choose A CPU Cooler - PCPartPicker Canada

I'd go for more quieter ones, the topmost ones are good enough.

I don't mind the noise, thanks for providing me with the list! I think I'll go with the H100i, its cheap and seems decent. Would you recommend that because I want to achieve temperatures below 50C.

I really don't know much about watercooling, but what I did was watch reviews and read reviews and compared to each other. It's more a less about your opinion in what you end up picking.

If your computer is idle, then those temperatures are too high, even with a stock cooler. Make sure there's good contact between the CPU and heatsink. You did apply thermal paste, right?

Appreciate all the help, found out it was a problem with the processor itself. I went and got it replaced, now the temperatures are around 40C idle. They get up to 50C when the system is at full performance.
