But you must take more than just the server into consideration. Yes, the average server is <512mb, but what about standard VPS processes. If you have a VPS with 512MB of ram, then you will have just enough for your server. Essential processes take up some, so you might find yourself coming in short. If you don't want to deal with any SHELL code, then you have to buy a VPS hosted on a Windows server, and being Windows, it will use a lot of RAM for processes you don't even want. I think you should get a VPS with at least 5GB disk space (in case your server gets huge) and probably >2GB of ram.
