Intro
Nikki, Jokerboy2000, and I, Coder Maggot, here at the project-that-has-not-been-names are striving to create a fully-fledged RS2 server based on the 474 client. This server will be using state-of-the-art experimental designs patented by none other than yours truly (er, well, Nikki (almost, if not entirely, exclusively). The main goal here is to try out designs that we (er, well, Nikki) has not seen before for the sole purpose of personal satisfaction and discovery! We do not currently have a progress blog or anything of the type, this thread will be updated with new information.
Alright! We've now moved on to 525 completely, thanks to Flamable for the client!
Here's some media from the latest advancements.
Banking is currently working, sans tabs (will be implemented soon)
The basics for clans have been implemented. Full functionality of the clans system with site integration is our hope.
NPC rendering and prayer functionality.
Inventory functionality!
Spoiler for old:
I apologize for the brevity, but this is just a happy-go-lucky fun-time sotra project at the moment. As more content materializes, this thread will be updated accordingly.
If you would like repo read access, please send Nikki or Coder Maggot a pm to get approval.
Best of luck, very experienced programmers in this project.
Right now the focuses are more on cleaning up the core and adding in systems for the future.
The server currently has an event system with a lua scripting engine that lets us do content in something simpler than Java, and cleaner to read and audit. The lua system has premapped instances and APIs for the world object, important constants (Skill ID, Bank variables, Inventory variables), and the java.util.logging Logger (logger.info/logger.severe/logger.warning/logger.fine/finer/finest/logger.log), and can be easily extended by the plugin system or any part of the server.
Another feature recently added is JDBC saving (Similar to Scape-Emulator with multiple 'Table' classes, it saves most of the data from the player in separate tables which are easy to scan), along with the JSON loading/saving of data (XML being the original) and 474 cache loading/update server, it makes the cache very easy to update with new content or simple bug fixes (such as maps).
We're also planning a website which will be fully integrated into the server, including an admin panel, and all written and served up by Lighttpd + Lua (Crazy language to use for web development, isn't it? woohoo)
Expect a lot of cool things, as it's what this server is designed for
this looks awesome, good luck i cant wait to see some updates lol
best of luck, amazing development team
Looking forward for future updates and media.
Good luck guys, I'm sure this will turn out well.
