I usually don't read complete threads. This was in fact an interesting one. After reading each comments. I realized that RuneScape is probably in trouble. Back in 2006, it had over million players online at the same time(correct me if I'm wrong). Now, it can barely reach 400k players online. Maybe the numbers aren't exact, you understand what I mean.
However, it's a smart company. They have a great organization and they can defend their content very effectively. That being said, I doubt that making your own cache and client would change a difference. You would be simply by putting this time and effort into your own application. SoulSplit probably did some future conversation with Jagex and paid them to cover their server. That's the most logical explanation anyway. RuneScape seriously need to change. Their UI is horrible and it's more of a non-sense fantasy game. Even by looking at their website, you can see how their content had become unattractive. Now they are hunting down servers that date from 2006?
$100,000 settlement? As ridiculous as it is, I suppose it's a brilliant way to scare the hoster into shutting down the service.
MMG claimed we could easily get 750k votes for the OSRS poll and these account were supposed to be real players even though before the re-release of the F2P Hiscores we only had around 470k members which would now barely let us reach the 450k vote mark for OSRS and this was only a year ago.
Seems fake because of the fact they say two different domains ... .com in the beginning and then .org
