    because that is what they are?

    a frame contains the opcode, the frame type (raw/fixed/varbyte/varshort), and the payload, which is exactly what the table he posted details.

    it's not a 'packet' because it includes header information

    it's not a message because 'messages' strictly contain information that is being transferred (for example the 'authentication' message might include username and password).
