Remove the section
Add requirements.
|
So recently, people have been getting scammed left, right and center, either by old or new member's of the Community and quite honestly, it's getting annoying and giving the site a negative reputation.
What makes it worse is that user's don't know where or how to report a scammer or whether their report is being dealt with.
I understand that Moderators don't have to deal with scam reports because it's a black market, but this is starting to get ridiculous it really is.
Everyday for the past week or two there's been people coming into the Shoutbox and asking for in-depth help on how to get a player banned for Scamming and yet their reports are to no prevail and then the problem carries on.
I suggest either adding post requirements to those sections, 400+ Posts seems alright, but even then the issue may persist.
What I'd honestly do is remove the section as a whole, I mean it will take a lot of the community away, but still, the scammers will most probably leave.
So, what I ask is for users if you support the idea, thank the thread, vote in the polls and end this, if you disagree post why please.
i say add more requirements/rules ect maybe if you are buying something with large amounts of money (lets say about $70) you have to use a middleman? thats just one suggestion and there should maybe be a mod just for being a middleman? so people dont get ripped off from random middlemen around rune-server
Should just take rune-server down. Will save a lot of headache in the long run.
But seriously, the only thing I see happening is a disclaimer that Rune-Server can't be held responsible or compensate for the scammer(s) that lurk the community. It's up to the seller or buyer to watch themselves.
Of the options provided I'd side with a post count requirement but not entirely satisfied with that option.
Just remove the market ffs.
The market section should be officially titled "Black market", that way I'm pretty sure people will be more cautious with the people they are dealing with.
Depriving the community of a market should not be even considered, because if you set aside those few scams, you would actually see it has a lot of benefits for the users.
The Market has a share of Runescape private servers developing because some people do not release and only sell.
The Market has some negatives which is giving scammers a medium to scam even more, but it also gives legit sellers the opportunity to get their product out there which i think outnumbers the scams by a lot.
I have only seen 2/3 people in the shoutbox saying they got scammed and justice was served ; Trixstar was permed and Diesel was banned (not sure if permanent.)
Adding a requirement is a good idea and also perhaps adding a warning page before accessing the market section saying rune-server and it's mods are not responsible for any transactions.
But what requirement would you add? post count? That's not the best idea ever because people will post whore & spam, increasing the number of posts moderators have to handle just so those users can get access to the Market Section and still have a slightly less chance of getting scammed.
Using a mod as a middle man would just overwhelm the moderators. Adding a post/rep requirement would be efficient but it won't stop scamming completely. People also need to take into consideration how many vouches a person has and stop going first in a transaction if you're the one selling.
If a requirement isn't added or the market section is removed, I think the mods should at least ban the scammers. I know it's the black market but i don't see why they should be able to roam the site freely
You guys missed the point where if you support a change, you should thank the thread
This wouldn't happen. The admins have made it clear that they will keep the section, but have nothing to do with scam reports. Just because you add post requirements, doesn't make the people less of scammers.
If this was Black Market based, some of these suggestions could go through, but the point is that the admins don't care and won't make any changes; but, they are keeping the category so that they don't lose the members.
