    Hello.

I would like to make a few suggestions relating to the Intellectual Debate & Discussion board

    • Please find something else to name it. Intellectual shouldn't be used to describe a proper debate and or discussion. It just seems weird having it called that.
    • Please implement some form of requirement to post in that section. A thread I just came from there is just kids posting pictures. It is completely going against what that board should be about
      • Possibly post count requirement, or optimally a usergroup requirement to create threads. Replies I don't really care about as you can just disregard the kids posting single sentence and image responses

    thanks

It's named "~*~Intellectual~*~ Debates and Discussions" to drill it into peoples' thick skulls that it is a section where intellectual posts are required. Seeing as less than 25% of the community actually reads sectional rules, the name is kind of a guide.

Suggestions for requirements? Also, if you see posts violating the sectional rules, do us mods a favour and report them.

Post count doesn't dictate intelligence though, so this isn't a viable option.

    Hi Songoty,

We do have two stickies outlining the requirements of posting:

    Intellectual Debates and Discussions
    http://www.rune-server.org/general-d...ly-2014-a.html

Did you mean requirements for posting in terms of the topics of discussion? I know from time to time people post stuff in there that shouldn't be in there at all. I'm actually the one who moved that thread out of that section. That can always be reported though and mods handle it fairly quickly.

Who gets to decide what makes a topic intellectual? Lets use that new world order topic for an example. Yes, to most people the concept of the NWO makes no sense, and there are a lot of irrational beliefs the believers hold. But, who are we to say they can't air their opinions and try to have a proper debate for it in a section meant for proper debates and discussions? The problem with having the intellectual bit there is that everyone has a different concept of what an intellectual topic is. That's like because I do not believe in God I think any religious philosophers are loons and shouldn't be allowed to have proper debates with agnostics or atheists, because to me the concept of a creator doesn't make sense.

But we all have beliefs that will not make sense to some other people, do you catch what I'm trying to say here?

Yea I'll report next time, I figured though my post would correct them in that section, my bad boss.

A post count requirement would weed out inexperienced users to this forum, but yes you are correct, it doesn't correlate with intelligence.

    @Numbers

    Yea those are acceptable stickies.

I was more so referring to the posters, but you guys are right we should just attempt to make them read and understand the stickies, and attempt to make them post in a legible manner.

The moderators get to decide. If it's a topic that can be debated (intellectually) upon, then it will stay. Things that are more irrational and not very debatable can be posted in the Chat section.

The only thing we can do to "make" people read/understand stickies is to give them warnings/infractions. I'd be all for section bans though.

Yes, there is a way to. I dont think it will be done tho. If someone breaks the rules, he will get punished. If he does this too many times, he will get banned from the forums so just report his posts.

    Spoiler for Love:

There are forum-wide infractions and auto bans for a reason. Unless it's something like the black market, users shouldn't be banned from specific sections.

Autobans won't stop people from posting retarded shit in the ID&D section relentlessly. Also, infractions do expire after a certain time period as well. A ban from the ID&D section will not allow the user to post there at all.
