Hello,
It has come to my attention that most of today's 503+ show-off's basically contain nothing different than new sprites and/or client edits that make their abomination of little-modified recently downloaded servers look more shiny. This is extremely painful to see as it encourages others to show-off less-effort achievements.
What bothers me is the following rule:
This should be changed into:Threads with released content isn't worthy of showing-off. (We are perfectly fine if you create something that's never been done before and you'd like to show it off)
This will bring the following advantages:Threads with content that isn't worthy of showing-off.
- The show-off section will be used to show-off high-effort content (again).
- People will be encouraged to do things their selves other than using released content (being able to show-off content encouraged me to do things myself when I started RSPS).
So why hesitate to change it? Start encouraging better programmers to show off and interact with the community by changing the rule immediately.
Thank you for reading,
Savions Sw.
That section needs removing entirely
So you're saying that if people go out of their way to create something and they feel they did a good job, they shouldn't be allowed to show their peers their work? That's not how forums work. This should be changed into:Threads with released content isn't worthy of showing-off. (We are perfectly fine if you create something that's never been done before and you'd like to show it off)
Threads with content that isn't worthy of showing-off.
1. The section rarely ever consisted of high-effort content. People also aren't restricted from posting high-effort content, and you still rarely see it.This will bring the following advantages:
The show-off section will be used to show-off high-effort content (again).
People will be encouraged to do things their selves other than using released content (being able to show-off content encouraged me to do things myself when I started RSPS).

Refer to point #2 above. You seem to think that the current sectional rules restrict people from posting high quality content or something. The current rules are set in place because we still want to see some activity in the show-off sections. So why hesitate to change it? Start encouraging better programmers to show off and interact with the community by changing the rule immediately.
So we can go with your suggestion and have a dead show-off section, or we can just let people who are proud of their work (even if it's minimal, everyone has to start somewhere) show their work off for criticism, support, etc.
Oh yeh you're not a fan of the show off section right?
Anyways OP your reasons for the 503+ also apply for the 317 show offs. It's usually just "look at my new interface" and occasional decent show offs.
however the problem with this I guess is that most people don't read rules especially for that sector.
Don't really see what the big deal is about. You guys will always find something to complain about.
If someone is happy about their latest update and they feel the need to show it off... Then so be it.
There's already plenty of rules on the site and the last thing we need is some new rule that tells people not to show off something that's been done before.
That's just my input.
