Hard. I would suggest taking a university class as that's what I did and I retained some pretty useful information. The potential with Adobe PS is endless and trying to master it on your own can take years. All depends on how much time you dedicate to it and your intentions. Now, if you're just trying to do simple overlays, signatures, banners etc. it won't take too long. Like anything, the more you practice the better you will become.

You can find a lot of helpful lessons and tutorials on photoshop here: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/tutorials.html

You really don't need university to use photoshop. Especially if you don't want to do anything serious. If you want to make graphic design or anything visual communication related then I suggest getting a book to read to understand everything theory related, because not really everything is on the internet.

First thing to do for you is; get used to the photoshop tools and understand what you can do with each tool. And if its just signatures you want to create I suggest joining gfxresource forum, probably the only one active right now, so you can get proper resources and tutorials to learn. However for me the best way to learn was to experiment.

And its not hard to use, but you need knowledge to create something professionally. Which means you should study the subject yourself, or well... yeah go to a university for proper education.

Everyone in the business is learning. I don't claim to be perfect in any way shape or form, neither can anyone but we're all learning. I've seen people with the GFX rank say that they'll watch tutorials and stuff and that's really what you have to do because the only way you'll be good is by learning. Photoshop isn't hard if you know the basics and what the tools do and such, and once you've got those down you can do ANYTHING! Just have fun and post things you're proud of and you'll get better in no time buddy! Good luck!
