In settings.java, I have to change the world to my IP, which allows outside connections, but I can not connect locally because it's my IP.

non_hosted = true and the ip is my external IP init method

    Anyone have any suggestions?

Did you assert that an external user can connect to your established connection?
If so, you should be capable of connecting just fine as long as you are trying to connect to the external IP you set, and not locally.
